The Voice 2013: Former coach Danny O?Donoghue says ?I?m dating someone special,? but it?s probably not Bo Bruce!

August 3rd, 2013 by Lynn Connolly.

bo-danny

Fans of The Voice will of course know that The Script front man Danny O?Donoghue has called time on his role as a coach on the show, and evidently, that?s afforded him more time to spend on getting back his social life?

And to find some romance apparently as he?s told the Daily Mail that he now has a special someone in his life.

He said, ?I get so engrossed in what I do, there hasn?t really been that much room for anybody else?

?But I am now dating a special someone.?

However, while he wouldn?t say who that ?special someone? is, it?s most likely we can rule out his supposed former flame Bo Bruce ? who was of course a finalist on The Voice during its first series ? since Danny reckons all the talk of a romance between him and the talented singer was nothing more than a publicity stunt.

Of the media reports that he and Bo were an item, Danny remarked, ?I didn?t deny or confirm the speculation.

?I found it funny. By not saying anything, it created its own buzz. I thought I?d use it, and help Bo get publicity.?

However, as we reported a while ago, Bo evidently didn?t find it overly ?funny? and in an interview with a newspaper, she revealed that she?d poured out her heartache over Danny into songs for her album.

danny o'donoghue bo bruce

She also accused the show?s bosses of putting the kybosh on their blossoming romance, telling The Sun?s TV Biz, ?We were incredibly close and he?s a hot guy. It was a mad time and meeting someone under those circumstances is difficult.

?I was very vulnerable and I regret a lot of things that happened.

?There was such an obsession with whether or not we were together and that put wild amounts of pressure on us.

?In the end a decision was made for him to not be around me. The process of writing my album Before I Sleep began when I was supposed to go with Danny to a Coldplay concert.

?It was meant to be an end-of-The-Voice present ? for him and me.

?But he was told he was not allowed to, because he couldn?t be seen with me in public.

?So I ended up not going with him but someone took pity on me and invited me to Coldplay?s box, with Coldplay?s agent, who then wanted to sign me.

?So although I said I have regrets about what happened, it led to so many other things.?

Here?s a reminder of Bo and Danny performing together on The Voice?

Come check out my highly detailed Arizona football rosters on NCAA Football 14

I spent a lot of time on these and I must say they are very good.

I edited equipment to a crazy amount of detail, attempted to find all the correct faces/skin tone/hair, corrected height/weight, edited ratings to where I felt they were more appropriate, fixed jersey numbers (when possible), fixed hometowns, fixed the depth chart, took off any players no longer on the program and added what I felt were important freshmen/transfers.

All other teams are named as well but I only edited Arizona in detail.

My PSN is Mr_RockyRacoon

These are on PS3.

Please tell me what you think and what I can improve on!

Martina Hingis: Her second comeback wows the crowds

Hingis, the 32-year-old former top-ranked singled player whose last tour match was September 2007, consistently showed the deft hands that made her a nine-time Grand Slam doubles champion before a sparse crowd that gave her a warm ovation when she was introduced.

Hingis?didn't touch the ball until the fifth point of the match but flashed her doubles talent when she hit a backhand volley right at Jurak for a point in the second game.

"I felt like I got more comfortable (after the first set), returning, serving, everything," she said. "For me, mentally, I felt really good after that. The (first) service game of the second set, after that game I was like, 'I'm back to normal.'"

Hingis?is scheduled to play doubles with Hantuchova in four tournaments, including the U.S. Open.

"It was a great test for us and being able to beat them the way we did, it just gives us a lot of hope for the coming weeks," Hantuchova said about beating the team that reached the final of the Bank of the West Classic on Sunday.

The 'Swiss Miss' has retired twice previously, the first time in early 2003 at 22 and the last time in November 2007.

In singles, Ana Ivanovic advanced to the second round by beating defending champion Dominika Cibulkova 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

The seventh-seeded Ivanovic, from Serbia, won nine of the final 11 games. She used a strong ground game to overpower Cibulkova, the Slovak coming off a victory Sunday in the Bank of the West Classic at Stanford.

"As soon as the draw came out I thought it was one of the toughest first-round matches, especially being a seeded player," said Ivanovic, the former top-ranked singles player and 2008 French Open champ. "But I was really happy with my performance."

Badgers football position preview: Ryan Groy leads revamped offensive line

There is no mistaking the leader of the University of Wisconsin football team?s offensive line this season.

Ryan Groy is the only projected senior starter, as well as the leader in games played (41) and starts (20) among the linemen. He?s also in the mold of past leaders in the line, a guy who isn?t afraid to speak his mind, to teammates or the media.

The Badgers are coming off a remarkable three-year run on the line: Seven players have been drafted in that span, including three in the first round and one in the second.

Gabe Carimi won the 2010 Outland Trophy, four linemen were named first-team All-Americans and seven different linemen earned first-team All-Big Ten Conference.

Groy, from Middleton, could serve as a bridge from a glorious past to an uncertain future, due mostly to a shrinkage in scholarship numbers that has left depth as a major concern.

?To me, the key is the offensive line staying healthy, because the numbers are thin,? UW coach Gary Andersen said. ?They?re good players, but those numbers are thin.?

New offensive line coach T.J. Woods said in the spring that he would like to be at 16 scholarship linemen. The Badgers had 10 in the spring ? and frequently had only eight healthy linemen practicing ? and should have 12 scholarship players and six walk-ons when preseason camp opens.

Woods acknowledged the depth won?t be replenished

in one recruiting cycle.

?You try to build the walk-on program,? he said of one remedy. ?That?s one of my big goals. This place has a long tradition of walk-on players ? not just O-linemen. ? It?s awesome for me to be a part of it and I want to try and build that walk-on program back up.?

Until the numbers improve, Woods will plug the holes with versatile players such as Groy, who will fill a vital spot by moving from left guard to left tackle.

One reason Woods didn?t mind being shorthanded in the spring is because it forced players to get comfortable playing multiple spots. In addition to Groy, junior Dallas Lewallen played left tackle and center before settling in at left guard.

?I don?t look at it as a hindrance or a liability that we don?t have a lot of guys,? Woods said. ?We?re just preparing ourselves for week eight of the Big Ten season.?

No matter where he lines up, Groy is taking ownership of the group, which is what Woods wanted.

?A position group is only as good as its leaders,? Woods said. ?It?s their group. Ryan has his senior year one time; that?s it.?

It?s especially important on the offensive line, where all five players must work together ? and successes and failures are shared.

?I think that?s the biggest difference with the offensive line. More than any other position, your fate is tied to four other guys? performances,? Woods said.

The other returning starters, besides Groy, are junior right guard Kyle Costigan, who missed all of the spring following offseason knee surgery, and junior Rob Havenstein, who started every game last season at right tackle.

Redshirt freshman Dan Voltz, who enrolled early and has gone through two springs, is the projected starter at center.

Lewallen, who has overcome knee problems and made it all the way through the spring, will likely get the first crack at left guard. He could be pushed by sophomore Ray Ball, or possibly senior Zac Matthias, the backup right guard.

Groy smiled when it was suggested to him over the summer that some people think this line may not be as good as recent seasons.

?Oh, yeah?? he said. ?I think we?ll be fine. The Wisconsin O-line is not changing any time soon. So we?ll be fine.?

U.N. rights chief calls for investigation into Syria massacre

GENEVA (Reuters) - U.N. human rights chief Navi Pillay said on Friday she wanted an independent investigation into an apparent massacre carried out by Syrian opposition forces in the town of Khan al-Assal.

"Based on the analysis by my team to date, we believe armed opposition groups in one incident - documented by a video - executed at least 30 individuals, the majority of whom appeared to be soldiers," she said in a statement issued by her office.

Syrian state media have accused insurgents of killing 123 people, mainly civilians, during a rebel offensive in Aleppo province late last month.

A group calling itself the Supporters of the Islamic Caliphate posted a video on YouTube of around 30 bodies of young men piled up against a wall. It said they were militiamen who had supported President Bashar al-Assad.

Over 100,000 people have died in Syria's civil war. In the early months of the conflict Assad's forces were blamed for the documented human rights abuses, but the U.N. Commission of Inquiry on Syria now says both sides have committed atrocities.

"Opposition forces should not think they are immune from prosecution. They must adhere to their responsibilities under international law," Pillay said.

Pillay's office said its team in the region was continuing to investigate the circumstances and scope of the killings, and it had information from a reliable source that opposition fighters were still holding government officers and soldiers captured in Khan al-Assal.

The town is one of three sites due to be visited by another group of U.N. investigators, who are trying to find the truth about allegations that chemical weapons have been used in the conflict.

RI home lived in while family was on vacation

BARRINGTON, R.I. (AP) ? In a stunt straight out of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," a Rhode Island family came home from a weeklong vacation to find that someone had been living in their house.

Tracy Woodard of Barrington tells WJAR-TV (http://bit.ly/12I4Kim ) the family found wet towels and blankets strewn about the house, someone's underwear on the couch, and condom wrappers and marijuana left behind. She says whoever broke in also made cookies.

The family says the intruders took alcohol, cash and other valuables from the home and caused damage, including breaking some doors.

Woodard says the unwanted guests had taped blankets over the home's glass doors so neighbors couldn't see in.

Barrington police Chief John LaCross says officers are investigating, but no arrests have been made.

Johnson: Spare us the hypocritical anger on baseball steroid scandal

Mr. Moseby?Mr. Lloyd Moseby speaks out on steroids.

?I?m surprised,?? Lloyd Moseby is saying, ?that people are surprised, more than anything, to tell you the truth. I?m shocked that people are shocked.?? The lurid headlines have returned, almost on cue, to stain America?s Game, long since shorn of the sense of sepia-toned romance that promised a refuge of sanity in an increasingly insane world. The Biogensis case of performance-enhancing drugs is only the latest to soil an increasingly soiled sports world in general and baseball specifically.

...Cheating, says Moseby bluntly, is one thing. A bad thing. Undeniably. But complicit silence, insidious hypocrisy, isn?t exactly a shining virtue, either.

?This is the era. This goes back a ways. The owners knew it. The commissioner knew it. He was happy that Sammy Sosa and (Jason) Giambi and (Mark) McGwire were hitting all those home runs. They saved the game. And so now you want to back up and say ?Oh, what a terrible thing!? ?It?s kind of silly for anyone to say ??- Moseby grabs theatrically at his heart ??Oh, I?m shocked! I can?t believe he was doing it!? ?Stop it.

?Some ex-players are angry. Not me. I just laugh and say ?Who didn?t know about it?? ?I am angry that the commissioner is doing what he?s doing. Now he wants to punish the kids. Now he wants to start passing the buck onto the second generation of people doing it.?? At 53, the irrepressible Shaker is looking a lot like a favourite old glove.

...?I love baseball. I love the game. I?ll never stop loving the game. The stats are kind of what get you, though. For us as older players, we know what we did. The stats have climbed. Suddenly you had guys hitting 50, 60, 70 home runs. I knew I was better than this guy, but he had better stats than me. But do they really care (about the Hall of Fame, about Cooperstown)? They live in mansions. They got $100 million contracts. Keep ?em out of the Hall of the Fame all you want, they?re still driving Lamborghinis. So Alex Rodriguez is not going to make another $30 million? So what? He?s already made half a billion.?? More lurid headlines await, more big names are set for exposure.

2007 Ridge Monte Bello, Santa Cruz County, California

A retaste of the flagship wine, the 2007 Monte Bello (a blend from this famous estate of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc) reveals a dense ruby/purple wine with a floral, blueberry, and earthy cassis nose and elegant mid-weight flavors with impressive purity and classicism. There is good acidity, firm tannin, and modest alcohol (13.1%). This is not the most concentrated or powerful Monte Bello, but one built on finesse and elegance. According to the back label, only 41% of the production made it into this wine from the 103-acre estate vineyard. Give this wine another good 5-7 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 20-25 years.

Texas A&M University redshirt defensive lineman Polo Manukainiu, 19, died Monday night in a car accident in New Mexico during a trip home from Utah.

According Texas A&M, he was killed in a one-vehicle rollover accident on U.S. Highway 550 in Sandoval County in New Mexico.

Among those who also died in the single-vehicle crash were 14-year-old Andrew "Lolo" Uhatafe and 18-year-old Gaius Vaenuku. Salesi Uhatafe was injured in the crash.

One of Manukainiu's last tweets may shed some light on what happened. "22 hour drive back to Texas on no sleep. Oh my," he tweeted.

A statement released by Texas A&M reports Manukainiu "was a passenger in a 2002 Toyota Sequoia traveling south on U.S. 550 and the vehicle drifted off of the roadway and the driver over corrected and the vehicle rolled several times. Manukainiu and another passenger, Andrew Uhatafe, were ejected from the vehicle and deceased at the scene. Gaius Vaenuku, an incoming member of the Utah football team, was transported from the scene of the accident but was pronounced deceased in the ambulance. The driver and a fifth passenger were transported to San Juan Regional Hospital after sustaining minor injuries. Alcohol was not involved and it appears the driver was the only one wearing a seat belt."

Manukainiu was from Euless, Texas. According to KVUE's sister station WFAA, he graduated from Trinity High School in 2012.

The high school released a statement Tuesday, which said in part:

As we mourn the loss of three members of our Trinity family, we invite you to use this page as a place to share thoughts about Gaius Vaenuku (THS Class of 2013), Polo Manukainiu (THS Class of 2012), and Lolo Uhatafe (Euless Junior High student), along with support for Salesi Uhatafe (THS Class of 2013).

Aggies, sports fans, and even teammates are now sharing their sadness over Manukainiu's death.

?We lost a terrific young man,? Texas A&M head football coach Kevin Sumlin said. ?Polo was loved by his teammates and coaches. Anyone who came in contact with him was struck by his sense of humor and smile. My heart aches for his mom and family members.?

Teammate and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel tweeted Tuesday morning, "Heart hurts waking up to news about Polo..I think I speak for everyone on our team when I say we love you brother you will be missed."

The Texas A&M football staff sent this message out on their Twitter feed, "Very saddened this morning by the passing of @manukainiupolo. What a great kid! Praying for his family. #RIPPolo."

Texas A&M says Manukainiu was a recreation, parks and tourism science major. He is survived by his mother, Lima Uhatafe of Euless.
